STEPS Pathways Charity is the proud recipient of a $3,000 grant from Kinetic’s Moving Communities Fund, which supports initiatives that improve community access and strengthen local connections.
The grant has enabled STEPS Pathways College to purchase new bikes, ensuring students have safe and reliable equipment to explore their community and take part in recreational exercise while participating in travel training lessons that focus on safe local navigation.
CEO and Principal of STEPS Pathways College and Social Enterprise Stephanie Patey said the grant would have a meaningful and lasting impact on students.
“This grant is more than funding for bikes, it is an investment in independence, confidence, health and opportunity,” she said.
“Through every ride, STEPS Pathways College students will build travel-training skills, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, strengthen community connections, and gain the confidence to navigate life more independently.”
The new bikes will support a growing cohort of young people with a disability and autism, giving more students access to activities that promote healthy living and community engagement.
STEPS Pathways College is the only boarding college of its kind in the world for young people with a disability and autism, providing transformative independence education to help students create a brighter future full of possibility.
