Creating a brighter future

STEPS Pathways College is the first and only Boarding College of its kind in Australia, dedicated to helping young people with a disability and autism develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently and thrive in their communities. We are based in Caloundra on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and offer a holistic learning environment where every student is empowered to set and achieve their unique goals, receiving support every step of the way.

Our approach

At STEPS Pathways College, learning is life changing. Our curriculum is built around our ’10 Key Areas of Learning’ and reflects the realities of everyday independent living, from cooking and budgeting to navigating the community, looking after your health, and forming and maintaining friendships. Every student follows an individualised training plan, guided by experienced trainers in a blend of classroom and real-world learning environments. We focus on what matters most: giving our young people the skills, routines and confidence they need to live life independently and on their own terms.

Our community

Independence isn’t just about practical skills. It’s about belonging somewhere, having connections you can count on, and building a fulfilling life. Students form genuine friendships with their peers and become part of a community that celebrates their individuality and supports their growth. Through shared experiences, both on campus and out in the community, students improve their social confidence and discover that their goals are well within reach.

Our people

STEPS Pathways College was founded by Carmel Crouch AM after four decades of tireless advocacy. We have dedicated and experienced staff, from our Executive Leadership Team to our trainers and support workers. Please read the ‘Our People’ webpage to learn more about the leaders behind our transformative College.

Creating a brighter future

At the end of two years of holistic, life changing education and independent living experiences, our graduates can leave with a transformed sense of self, knowing they are capable of setting and achieving the goals they set for themselves.

STEPS Pathways College graduates have gone on to secure meaningful employment, move into supported or independent accommodation, and maintain the friendships and community connections they developed during their time at STEPS Pathways College.
